Twice a year, Our Redeemer hosts retreats at Koinonia—one in the winter and one in the summer. These retreats offer a time for fun, relaxation, and fellowship, providing a break from the busyness of everyday life. With no set schedule, you are free to unwind in whatever way feels right for you—whether it’s reading a book by the fire, enjoying meaningful conversations, hiking scenic trails, tubing down snowy hills in the winter, or rafting along the Delaware River in the summer. Join us for a refreshing getaway where you can simply be with God and one another.
Located in the Catskill mountains about 2.5 hours from Seaford, Koinonia is situated on 1,200 acres of forest, with numerous facilities that offer opportunities to be surrounded by God’s creation. Koinonia (Koi-no-NEE-ah) is a New Testament Greek word meaning community, which is our primary focus of our retreats when we go as a church.
Koinonia is located at 165 Lakeview Road Highland Lake, NY
Let us give you an overview of what a typical ORLC Retreat at Koinonia looks like in the Winter and the Summer.
We try to book our retreats out in advance so to give everyone plenty of time to plan and prepare. In the Winter we look to book a weekend in late January or early February. In the Summer we look to go early to mid August, a last final vacation before school begins again in the Fall. Scroll down to see the upcoming dates that we currently have scheduled.
Much of the activity takes place in the Conference Center. The Conference Center has 20 motel style room, across two wings. Each room has at least two queen beds a peice, with some rooms have additional twon beds, along with bathroom and showers in each room.
The two wings come togehter in a great room where we have our meals, do crafts, play games, puzzels, or to reach or chat by the fire. There is an additional Agape Rooms where more activities can take place.
Meals are prepared by Koinonia Staff and we always make sure to have a well stocked community snack table.
For future retreats, we hope to fill the Conference Center rooms with adults, couples, and families with young children. Just down the road, the Hillside Cabin provides accommodations for up to 16 middle and high school youth, along with their adult chaperones. This setup allows the youth to have their own space in the evenings while still bringing everyone together for activities, events, and meals throughout the weekend.
This will allows families to come to retreat together (even if they stay in serperate parts of camp), as well as allowing youth the opportunity to attending if the rest of their family is unable to join (a permission slip will be needed and we will coordiante your child to ride up with another family).
At our Winter Retreat we get the opportunity to explore God's creation
